“America the Beautiful”
Celebrating Pluralism in America
Through Art and Artists

“America is a land of immigrants; an ever-evolving expression of the hopes and aspirations of free people who have come from many different countries to pursue their dreams. It is this rich diversity, this spirit of pluralism that is our greatest strength.

The collection of art on display at Truman Hall was chosen to represent this spirit of pluralism. Artists from different parts of the country and of distinctly different backgrounds – from Lebanese to Japanese, African to German, Canadian-Greek to Syrian – have created paintings, textiles and sculpture depicting America as seen through their eyes. What unites them is their passion for their country, a United States in which each individual can express him or herself freely, and in doing so, represent us all.”
